ZONA MACO Mexico Arte Contemporaneo, formerly called FEMACO, takes place in the Centro Banamex, Hall D in Mexico City, from the 22nd through to the 26th of April 2009. The Mexican Contemporary Art Fair is organized by Cultura y Arte Contemporáneo Zeta S.A. De C.V., under the direction of Zélika García.

With over 90 Mexican and international art galleries exhibiting at this years fair, and with the ZONAMACO SUR, a new section featuring solo shows from 15 different Latin American artists coming onto the scene also, the ZM Mexico Arte Contemporaneo continues to secure its title as the leading contemporary art fair in the whole of Latin America. Offering a wealth of international, high quality art, an ambiance of buzzing, bustling interplay between galleries, collectors, artists and their appreciators, as well as the cosmopolitan lively vibe of the Distrito Federal, the four day event is a show not to be missed.

  • Patricia Ortiz Monasterio, owner of the OMR Gallery in Mexico City, speaks about the fair’s Latin American slant: “Every art fair must have its own personality. Having a strong representation of Latin American art doesn’t mean we’re only about Latin American art, but, yes, there is an emphasis. That is why people want to come: because they find something distinctive.”
